The Great Indian Peninsula Railway, founded in 1849, was a predecessor of the Central Railway. For auction is a very rare brochure entitled "The Road to India's Past", written by St. Nihal Singh. It was published by the Great Indian Peninsula Railway to promote tourist travel along its lines. It summaries India's history through a review of the nation, its sites, people and archeology, as well as its Hindu faith. There is a map of the routes of the Great Indian Peninsula Railway and its routes to the various destinations mentioned in the brochure. It also mentions travel difficulties and the need of visitors to take their own food and bedding.
