For auction is a unique piece of British railroadiana - a lot of TWO pay cheque tokens from the former British Terminal Railways Company (BTC). The BTC was an operating division which provided switching services in rail yards and major railroad stations. It was merged into British Railways with nationalization in 1948. These pay check tokens, # 107 & 140,, were issued to employees as evidence that the employee was on the job and were exchanged at the paymaster's window for cash at the end of the work period. They date to the 1930s. Each token is made of thick brass.
These brass pay cheques from the 1930s could be a great fit for railway and transportation historians, classic collectors, or for display purposes in a historical or art setting.
