I do not know if this particular plate was used by Union Pacific, but it is highly likely. The backstamp has a date code which is hard to read. I think the number is 9 followed by FF. This date code indicates a manufacture date of September 1951, which corresponds to when this design was in heavy use by Union Pacific.
