Rule book from the former Norfolk & Western Railway Company entitled "Rates of Pay & Regulations for Firemen, Hostlers, and Hostler Helpers". It is dated July 1, 1954. This book provides the rules agreed upon by the N&W and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen for workers in these skills. There are separate rate schedules for passenger service and freight service, based on the weight on the locomotive drivers.
