For auction is a 2013-2014 brochure promoting "Amtrak Vacations". Amtrak, the government-owned entity that operates passenger railroad service in the US. Amtrak began operations in May 1971 and assumed responsibility for intercity passenger service from most privately owned railroad companies. The booklet presents itineraries for both independent and guided travel and include American Heritage and major cities tours of the Northeast to include Washington, Philadelphia, New York and Boston; tours to Southern US vacation centers to include New Orleans and Atlanta; trips to national parks such as the Grand Canyon and Glacier National Park; tours to mid-West cities and America's "heartland"; the Rockies, the Northwest and California; the American and Canadian Rockies.
