MFA Wagons were converted from MEA coal wagons, which themselves had been created by rebodying HEA coal hoppers. Some 135 former MEAs were cut down to create the MFAs by EWS between 1999 and 2000 for infrastructure use. Often seen in mixed rakes carrying spoil or ballast.
