A vintage British railway signal lantern, likely dating from the 1950s or 1960s. The "BR" embossed on the front typically stands for British Railways, indicating its specific use in the UK rail system during that era. These lanterns were originally paraffin-fueled (kerosene) and used as warning lights. It comes with the original paraffin box. On the door it also says: Chalwyn Traffic Signs Reg.40 Regd. Design 965446/7 BS 3143 Part1 I have not tested it however I don’t see any issue with it to make it work. It has some general rust or missing paint however no holes or breakage.
