Built in 1923 at Doncaster Works from a design by the great Sir Nigel Gresley the Flying Scotsman has to be the world's my famous steam locomotive.Setting two locomotive world records one being the first officially authenticated steam train to reach 100mph on the 30 November 1934, this iconic locomotive powered up and down the East Coast Main Line between London and Edinburgh retiring in 1963 after covering 2.08 million miles!
