The GBM16XL track occupancy detector (Fig. 1) is a non-railCom®-capable track occupancy detector for digitally controlled model railway systems, which works according to the principle of current measurement. Power diodes mounted on an aluminum heat sink serve as current sensors. In its function as an occupancy detector, the GBM16XL is compatible with the former Blücher-Elektronik GBM16XN, Blücher-Elektronik GBM16X-8A and Blücher-Elektronik GBM16XS. The GBM16XL can be used to control and monitor the occupancy status of a maximum of four sweeping loops. To reverse the polarity in the reversing loops, an additional relay board (KSDGBM16X) is required, which has a 6-pin. Flat cable is connected to the GBM16XL. The length of this connection cable between GBM16XL and KSDGBM16X is not critical. I.
