I purchased this loco some time ago and I have always stored it. The loco is weathered and has been fitted with (non working) lamps. Fitted with a decoder set to address code 3. A super loco now looking for a new home where it can be fully appreciated. 44781 was one of the locomotives that hauled the Fifteen Guinea Special, the last main-line passenger train to be hauled by steam locomotive power on British Rail on 11 August 1968. For the first part of the return leg from Carlisle two Stanier Class 5 4-6-0 locomotives, Nos. 44781 and 44871, double-headed the train back to Manchester Victoria. The loco has been packed in an original Hornby Black 5 box which is not original to this model.
