Hornby R2659M 'The Royal Highlander' train pack MINT BUT LOCO HAS RUNNING ISSUE

When I tested the loco it wouldn't run. The motor runs super smooth but it is not getting to the wheels. A classic gear issue. It is sold as seen with this problem.
