Kato N 1660111 - Budd RDC-2 Alaska Railroad #712, NEW & original packaging RDC: Rail Diesel Car. As a "rescuer of the branch line", the Budd Passenger Car Company designed a "passenger car with its own drive" at the end of the 1940s. Hundreds of these vehicles replaced steam locomotives in passenger traffic on side railways in the 1950s. Only with the end of passenger traffic in the USA in the early 1970s were these vehicles being retired. However, many are still used by museum railways today.
