The top is stamped “Made In China” and “Kwang Hwa”, while the tank features Chinese characters associated with the Shanghai Kwang Hwa Lamp Factory. This lantern appears to be based on the traditional German cold-blast hurricane lantern design popular throughout the twentieth century.
