LONDON BIRMINGHAM RAILWAY 1837 HAMPSTED ROAD BRIDGE TO EUSTON MOUNTED PRINT

£11

The artist gives an indication of the scale of the retaining walls built in the approaches to Euston. From the opening of the first section of the line to Box Moor in 1837 until 1844, when locomotives had enough power to man-age the incline, coaches were hauled up from Euston by a stationary engine and continuous rope at Camden Town.
