To be frank this book was not intended. The story of the clay industry was so closely linked that it was impossible to exclude it, not that one would have wished to. But between Great Torrington and Hatherleigh, to narrow the field of view, by what can almost be described as a geological freak, nature has deposited a mineral of use and value to man.
