Photograph Notes: The tramway was constructed in 1895 and was the work of Colonel Holman Stephens who was also responsible for the Selsey Tramway and the Kent and East Sussex Railway. Decline set in during the 1920s due to competition from buses though the line kept going until 1939 when it was taken over by the military.
