Just ahead is a bridge carrying the freight line which crosses the Hoo Peninsula. Passenger services ran on the line from 1882 to 1961. The line is still used for freight and a long train of containers can occasionally be seen trundling across the Isle of Grain to join the main line between Higham and Gravesend.
