Rare opportunity to own a piece of history Photo GWR locos 1453 and 2818 at Weymouth date back to the 1950s.
This collection consists of two Class P2 locomotives, both in excellent working order. The locomotives were built by George Hudson & Co Ltd and first entered service in 1947 on the Great Western Railway (GWR) network. The GWR was a major railway operating company that played a significant role in shaping British industry during the mid-20th century.
Both locos are preserved in their original state, with many original components still intact. The locomotives have been restored to their former glory and now operate as museum pieces, providing an insight into the early days of diesel locomotive operation. Their rich history and nostalgic charm make them a unique asset for any railway enthusiast or collector.
The locos are displayed on a specially designed platform at Weymouth Museum, where they can be admired by visitors from around the world. The collection is available for viewing during regular museum opening hours and offers a fascinating glimpse into the early days of diesel locomotive operation.
