Designed and built in Poland by Fablok and Zastal between 1976 and 1981, the SM31 was intended to replace older shunting types and handle the intensive demands of large-scale freight handling. Over its service life, the SM31 was widely deployed across Poland’s electrified and non-electrified freight hubs.
