The seven sections are: Carlisle to Glasgow (GSWR); Glasgow, Stirling, Perth, Dundee to Aberdeen; Glasgow to Edinburgh (including the suburban circle); Edinburgh, via the Forth Bridge to Perth and via the Tay Bridge to Dundee; Perth to Inverness (the Highland Main Line); Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh; Fort William to Mallaig.
