The image features illustrations of both a steam locomotive (No. 1401) and a diesel locomotive (No. 6906). The locomotives pictured were significant to the Southern Railway's history; No. 1401 is now on display at the Smithsonian, and No. 6906 is preserved at the N.C. Transportation Museum.
