This book is hard to put down, the history and photos of the Southern Spencer Shops is amazing. This book tells it all, from how the city grew due to the Southern locomotive shops, to a day in the life of a back shop worker, to the business and accounting offices. If you have ever been to the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer, NC which is located at the site of the old Spencer loco shops you will appreciate it more after reading this book. It is a must have for any Southern Railway fan or modeler.
