Vintage 1940s Signal-ite Railroad Flare Smudge Pot – Toledo Pressed Steel Authentic vintage railroad signaling/smudge pot made by The Toledo Pressed Steel Co. (Toledo, Ohio). These heavy pressed steel pots were used by railroads and train crews in the 1930s–1950s to burn flares or smudge for track signaling, visibility in fog, or work site warnings. The large bail handle allowed easy carrying. Condition: Solid vintage condition with honest industrial patina, surface rust, and wear. A dent one side. See pictures
