This is a vintage British Railways greasetop driver’s hat, issued from the late 1940s until the late 1960s. This one is stamped J. Compton, Sons & Webb and is size 6 3/4. The badge has lost a bit of its enamel and it shows signs of age but it’s a fine item with the inner leather band in good shape. Despite its appearance it does not give you license to drive your own locomotive.
